“The African Alphabet” contains 13 fun sing-along songs for kids of all ages.
The songs are an A to Z of things African & are composed in vibrant African styles ranging from Afro-Jazz, Afro-fusion, Afro-pop, to traditional sounds & a whole lot more!
Aside from teaching the Alphabet in a novel way, kids are also exposed to wonderful African themes. Learn about Ululating, Yebo, Impis, Marimbas to name just a few!
“The African Alphabet” is the brainchild of the songwriting/production team of Graeme Sacks and Erika Strydom.
Graeme & Erika run “Burnt Bread Productions” & through their company, have been composing & producing music together for the last 6 years. The team have written & recorded music for 3 educational theatre projects, a number of South African artists, an Afrikaans children’s CD & many radio & television commercials.
Lead vocals on the “The African Alphabet” are by the talented Relebogile “Lebo” Mabotja.
Lebo has featured in many TV & stage productions in South Africa including ETV’s “Gospel Grooves”, “Fame-the musical” & “Kompleks”. This young performer has all the makings of a Diva & is certainly worth looking out for!
“The African Alphabet” also features the talents of Kelly Petlane on flute, pennywhistle & alto saxophone.
Petlane is an internationally renowned jazz musician who has performed & recorded with many top musicians around the world.
Also on the album are a wonderful group of kids from Redhill School in Johannesburg, under the leadership of Elise Coutts-Trotter.
This vibrant album is adult friendly too (no purple dinosaurs were involved in the making of this album)!
